We are thrilled to share that Club Never Bored has been featured in SD Voyager Magazine! This recognition means so much to us, as it highlights the passion and creativity that drive everything we do. The opportunity came about after a glowing referral from an attendee at one of our neon volleyball events. We had an amazing time connecting with SD Voyager and sharing the story behind our brand.

Spotlighting Community Changemakers

SD Voyager's mission is to "find the amazing souls that breathe life into our communities." As they explained, "In recent weeks, we’ve had the privilege to connect with some incredible artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, and rabble-rousers, and we can’t begin to express how impressed we are with the incredible group below. Check out our favorite stories from across the Voyage family."

We’re honored to be included in such a remarkable group of changemakers and to share our journey with their readers.

Our Story

In our interview, we shared the origins of Club Never Bored. Co-founders Steven Massey, aka “Scuba Steve,” a PADI Specialty Scuba Dive Instructor and USCG Master Sea Captain, and Josh Harner, aka “Gamemaster Josh,” an emerging AVP Professional Volleyball player, TELCOM entrepreneur, and health advocate, came together with a vision to create extraordinary in-person experiences.

It all began with Illuminetty, our neon-lit, competitive volleyball tournament under the stars. This invite-only event quickly became a flagship annual gathering, attracting elite athletes, including AVP players, to San Diego. Since then, we’ve expanded our offerings to include corporate team-building events and unique community activities.

One of our proudest moments has been hosting the world’s largest neon dog party and charity event for Mission K9 at SD Dog Society. Through our 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we’re committed to rescuing retired military K9s and providing them with the care they deserve.

Overcoming Challenges

Our journey hasn’t been without its hurdles. From managing event security to balancing the needs of elite athletes and casual participants, each challenge has been a learning experience. For example, a theft attempt at one of our tournaments taught us the importance of vigilance and proactive security measures. Similarly, transitioning from volleyball tournaments to corporate events required us to refine our approach and adapt to new expectations—but it also opened exciting opportunities for growth.

What Sets Us Apart

Club Never Bored is more than an event company—it’s a lifestyle brand that fosters community, creativity, and health-conscious living. We’re known for our vibrant nighttime neon events and our commitment to giving back. Whether hosting corporate team-building activities, volleyball tournaments, or charity events, we aim to make every experience unforgettable.

Our recent acceptance into the USC Incubator program has given us the tools and support to take our mission to the next level. Being part of a portfolio of 120 innovative companies has been an incredible boost, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

Looking Ahead

We’re continuously inspired by the people and stories that surround us. For those just starting out, our advice is simple: tap into your network. Our first big corporate sales came through referrals from friends. Don’t hesitate to ask for help—collaboration and community can unlock opportunities you never expected.

Thank you, SD Voyager, for giving us a platform to share our story. To everyone who has supported us on this journey, we invite you to join us at an upcoming event or reach out if you’re looking to make your next corporate event unforgettable. Together, let’s keep creating epic experiences!
